A RUBBERBAND IS AN UNLIKELY INSTRUMENT - work in progress, DV / 24p; 2007.
Producer, Director / DP
RUBBERBAND is a feature-length documentary portrait on eccentric Texas born, Brooklyn based musician Walter Baker. Baker is a family man, salesman, business owner, guitarist, singer and composer who straddles the line between the fringes and mainstream culture. His musical prowess, although deeply rooted in the downtown avant jazz / noise scene, is heavily dosed with atmospheric pop and 80's guitar rock. Situated in one of Brooklyn's quickly gentrifying neighborhoods, Baker's obsessions include aesthetics, found "junk", vintage guitars and the dissipating Brooklyn landscape. Shot in both Texas and NY, the film is an observational character study of an artist's struggles with family, identity, art and commerce. Currently in production.

AT THE END OF HURON - 14 minutes, DV; 2007.
Producer, Director / DP, Editor
HURON occupies the space between documentary and narrative functioning as a portrait and poetic document on time, place and memory. The film focuses on a pre-developed Brooklyn waterfront and a man who’s experienced its transformation over the last five decades. The visceral narrative is drawn from sparse voice over and musical score, the environmental elements of the waterfront and the subtle gestures of a stoic man found at the edge of the East River. The man’s ruminating narration and the deliberate pacing of image and sound intertwine to construct a meditative vignette on gentrification and a man’s coming to grips with age and progress. The soundtrack is scored with music from Michael Krassner / Boxhead Ensemble and Dirty Three guitarist, Mick Turner.
